Skin Checks
Skin Cancer Checks - Woy Woy
Skin Cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia and can be found on any part of the body. Skin Cancers may be in hidden areas that you don’t check yourself, such as your back or feet. Many innocent looking skin lesions can turn life upside down if neglected.
When found early, most skin cancers can be managed with simple local treatment that does not have long-term side-effects. A delayed skin cancer diagnosis may involve a more complex diagnosis and treatment involving specialist referral, surgery or even chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy.
Our advice – Have your skin checked regularly by a qualified GP.

Cervical Screening
Cervical Screening - Woy Woy
A Cervical Screening Test is more effective than the Pap test at preventing cervical cancers, because it detects the human papillomavirus (known as HPV), whereas the Pap test looked for cell changes in the cervix.
HPV is a common infection that can cause cervical cell changes that may lead to cervical cancer.
The test is a simple procedure to check the health of your cervix. It feels the same as the Pap test. For most women aged 25 to 74, your first Cervical Screening Test is due two years after your last Pap test. After that, you will only need to have the test every five years if your result is normal.
If you are due for a cervical screening test, please make an appointment with one of our friendly General Practitioners. The test is quick and pain-free and is vital in the early detection and prevention of cervical cancer for women at risk.

Spirometry
Spirometry - Woy Woy
Spirometry is a common breathing test that helps assesses how well your lungs work. The test measures how quickly and how much air you can breathe in and out.
During normal breathing, air flows in and out of your lungs freely. People with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) have a hard time breathing out, and therefore too much air stays in their lungs. This is known as “air trapping” and is one of the causes of feeling short of breath.
Spirometry can help your doctor decide what medicines you may need to take and it can be used to monitor your lung health over time.
Your doctor will discuss with you your results and discuss a treatment plan.
